Physical Examinations

 Employee Physical Examinations for future, current, and retiring employees, whether regulated by a government agency or a standalone company, are beneficial to keep employees safe and healthy on the job. Candidates for employment will undergo a physical examination including a routine vision screening, vital check (blood pressure and heart rate), a height and weight assessment, as well as an examination of multiple body systems including cardiovascular, respiratory, and musculoskeletal. Here at LOHS we offer a wide variety of physical examinations to meet the needs of our clients across most industries.
 

Physicals Offered

• Non-DOT Physical – Employees that are not regulated by a government agency fall under this physical exam category. Employers may require physical examinations to determine if an employee is physically fit to perform the job duties assigned.​​​

• DOT Physical – Under federal law through the Department of Transportation operators of commercial vehicles are required to receive regular examinations. These exams determine the driver’s ability to operate safely by evaluating the driver of any physical, emotional, and/or mental health issues that could affect their job performance and safety​.​​

• Coast Guard Physical - The United States Coast Guard requires that all merchant mariners to pass a physical examination to determine if they can safely perform all routine and emergency seafaring duties to ensure their safety and the safety of others aboard their vessel.

• Return to Work Examination – After a workplace injury, a return to work examination may be ordered to ensure the employee is safe to go back to their regular work place duties. This can help reduces the risk of a repeated injury to the employee.​​

• Fit-for-Duty Examination - For more intense and physically strenuous employee positions, this examination may be ordered to determine if the employee is physically and/or psychologically capable of performing their job duties.​
